TMCC IGT APPLIED TECHNOLOGY CENTER

The IGT Applied Technology Center is located on Edison Way between Energy Way and Joule Street in Reno, NV. The TMCC IGT Applied Technology Center provides training for high skill jobs in construction, manufacturing and transportation technologies, including automotive, construction management, renewable energy, machining, fabrication, HVAC/R and welding. These programs are developed with input from local industry and directly meet the needs of the regional workforce. The center’s advanced shops and labs allow students to train with the hands-on experience for careers in these industries. In 2014, TMCC received funding through the Federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant program for renovation and build-out of open space in the approximately 96,000 SF building to include new classrooms, a logistics laboratory, restrooms, student-life space, renovation of existing restrooms and renovation of existing built space. Additionally, the project included the construction of an exterior storage facility and repaving of the facility’s materials equipment storage yard and the creation of outdoor student-life space. The renovation will also include an extensive exterior facade upgrade to modernize the appearance of the mid-1970’s tilt-up concrete panel building. CFA teamed with Van Woert Bigotti Architects and provided civil engineering, surveying, land use planning and landscape architecture services. Construction was completed in 2015.
