CFA specializes in creating sustainable solutions for site development. Led by our in-house LEED Accredited Professionals, we are prepared to assist with all site aspects of green building projects, including the pursuit of LEED Certification. As a compatible area of expertise, CFA resources also include Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC). This certification demonstrates knowledge of effective and economical methods of minimizing soil erosion and sediment transport due to land disturbing activities.

The US Green Building Council developed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards to promote buildings that are built in a sustainable manner and are designed to allow its occupants to live, work, and play in environmentally-responsible facilities. Sustainable design provides environmental and economic benefits and protects the health and well being of building residents. CFA supports Green Building principles in terms of the projects we take on as well as our own office practice.

The CPESC certification identifies specialists who have met established standards in applicable US federal and state regulations and permits, who can evaluate factors influencing erosion and affecting runoff, using basic models for predicting soil loss and identifying common practices for erosion and sediment control. Individuals with this certification have demonstrated proficiency to design and evaluate erosion and sediment control measures in response to Phase II of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.

CFA's professionals seek creative solutions for sites that respect the natural environmental conditions. CFA's approach results in sites that reflect natural ecological patterns more closely than sites that rely on traditional engineering techniques, while still accomplishing the program goals and objectives. Additionally, since our design engineers work closely with our landscape architects, our engineering designs are fully integrated into the landscape design for a project.
